Real-life Hero: Efren Penaflorida Jr

A salute to our real-life hero, Mr. Efren Penaflorida Jr!

“You are the change that you dream as I am the change that I dream, and collectively we are the change that this world needs to be” – Efren Penaflorida, from his acceptance speech at the Kodak Theater in Hollywood during the CNN Heroes: An All-Star Tribute last Saturday night.

Efren received his award from the hottie actress, Eva Mendes. Eh, really cool man! It was indeed a star studded event and for a Filipino to bring home the most coveted award was big time.

To Efren, may you continue to inspire and influence us all! Thank you for your untiring love to our fellow countrymen. You are very humble and cute!

Smart Enough?

Just a random picture that I took when I was in HK. Thinking about it now, I dunno what the heck I was doing at that time for me to capture this while eating in one of the restos at The Peak. Maybe because I was dining with the not-so-smart guy, haha! Just kidding folks!

Now, I am seriously contemplating about life in general... This brief text message exchange  last week made me feel cautious;

Me: Trick or Treat? ... (some text missing)
Friend: I'll be out of town. Don't do anything foolish!

So, yes... I am smart because I dunno what love is... Why? Because I rationalize things often and I feel like I am the "approachable but unattainable" type. Yes, I am a robot. Boss used to call me the heartless "superwoman" in the office.

Do you know what love is? How do you know if its REAL?

Coincidence, is that all there is?

Yes, I’ve been bugged with a lot of thoughts in my head for quite a while already. Then, there’s 500 Days of Summer which somehow made me think about a couple of things in life.

500 Days of Summer. A story about boy meets girl, but boy falls in love and the girl doesn’t. Err! Crap, I know! You might wonder how come they call this a romantic comedy movie when this uber sweet, boy-next-door’s love wasn’t fairly reciprocated by this evil, emotionless girl. The movie will show you how this boy, the delicate and lovely Tom, conquered Cupid’s heartless ploy.

The scenes were presented in the most passionate but very unique way, nothing much of kissing and making love. It will make you look out on the days left for the couple to make amends and therefore have a second thought of a happy ending like how most movies were done.

This will make you believe in coincidence. That there are no miracles, no such thing as fate and nothing is meant to be. If love is over and done, you must simply face the fact and start anew. To accept things at face value sometimes, maybe because too much questioning and bargaining are simply waste of time.

Coincidence does not prove relationship, but somehow related events may have a higher index of coincidence. In a more logical perspective, probability is a factor of several coincidences. So then, is it safe to say that there is no such thing as “heaven sent”? What do you think? Do you believe in magic in the first place?

what i'm gonna live for? die for?

I’m leaving tonight
Going somewhere deep inside my mind
I close my eyes slowly
Flowin’ away slowly
But I know I’ll be alright
It’s coming stronger to me
And I know someone is out there
Lead the way
Lead the way
Show me the answers I need to know

What I’m gonna live for
What I’m gonna die for
Who you gonna fight for
I can’t answer that

I feel numb, I’m alive
I know I’m getting closer

My life has had it’s share of troubles
And now I found a place to go
I’ve said goodbye to all my troubles
’cause now I’ve find my place to go

The Quest by Bryn Christopher

One of my faves from Grey's Anatomy Season 4. I dunno, but I feel like I'm one of the daughters of darkness. Ahemmmm... Will you help me live life? Just lead the way please. Oh, btw, Bryn is sexxyy... haha! wink!

holding on...

After spending my saturday afternoon doing work stuff, I went to Ortigas to hear mass. After dinner, I came across these sets of original VCDs & DVDs on sale. I told myself, I'm gonna buy some to uplift my emotional & twisted self. Been pretty busy these past few weeks, so many things happened in the last few days that I don't even know will soon come my way.

There... I bought a copy of Serendipity. Oh! Yeah, I've watched this movie a hundred times already since college, and finally, I now have a copy of my own. I also bought three others, haha! On my way home, I was so excited to start the ball rolling!

My first pick was... Under the Tuscan Sun. It was fabulously done just like Sweet Home Alabama (my boy's favorite). It made me laugh and cry at the same time. Not depressing, as I don't want to become more depressed this weekend. Loved it!

"If you smash into something good, you should hold on until its time to let go... Now is not the time..." - Under the Tuscan Sun

Yeah, not yet. Maybe some other time... :)
